this is my WHY

years i've been in business

As a mother and a formally trained professional photographer, I believe that life's milestones deserve to be honored, treasured, and preserved...not only for you, but for your children to share with their children.
You reading these words is the end result of something I have been working on for nearly a decade.

Here's a little more about me, photographer, Jennine Coosaia.  She was my first, and of course, I posted that proud moment online as soon as it happened.

I realized that in a few short months, this beautiful moment would be ancient history. It was all happening just as fast as everyone had promised.

A friend from across the country replied: "Just wait until she says "I love you." In that moment, my heart stopped.

I waited 36 years to hear the word

Mama

"it was all happening just as fast as everyone had promised."

Something really beautiful.

Something made to last.

Something made to share.

01.

When I started on this journey, I envisioned my home being filled with amazing images of my family.  I've searched high and low for the best products to showcase my work and have road-tested every product I share with my clients.  I even give you the opportunity to see a mock-up of your wall art BEFORE you purchase.

02.

All of my clients want the same thing.  Beautiful, timeless images, the ability to preserve and display them along with the ability to SHARE them online.  For this reason, we provide digitals suitable for online sharing with friends and family with every purchased image.

It has been a long process to find materials that not only look great, feel great...and stand the test of time and I'm so happy to provide this service for my clients.  I'm not merely doing the design work, I am providing albums and heirloom pieces that are only available to professional photographers.  It's quality you can feel.

don't let these moments pass you by. let's get something scheduled.

i feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend a world-renowned photography school

Photography is an art, but also a craft...there are volumes of information on lighting, posing, post-processing, and producing a high-quality final product...not to mention the skills needed to put parents and children at ease in order to encourage their truest selves to shine through.  Much of this comes naturally to me, but I've also dedicated myself to studying the art and science of my craft in order to build a business based on a superior customer experience.
In 2010, I left a successful medical sales career at the top of my game.  I packed all of my worldly belongings in a PODS container and moved from Chicago to Ventura, California to attend the world-renowned Brooks Institute of Photography (now Brooks at UC Santa Barbara).

I feel incredibly fortunate to have had this experience as most photography training is now only available online, workshops that last less than a week or via trial-and-error.
After photography school, I mentored with one of the world's top wedding and portrait photographers and worked as a retoucher in her studio before opening my own business specializing in the special years between maternity, baby's first year, and young (or maybe if you're like me...not so young) families.
I'm also incredibly proud to have been able to raise over $7,000 for a variety of charitable causes over the past 2 years and have been featured by several premium brands, including Janie & Jack, Monica + Andy, Elestory, Crate & Barrel, and CB2.

Go to ONE location, get TONS of looks.  Indoors and out.
Any time of year.

I am able to offer my clients a HUGE variety of looks simply because of my location.

Winter.  Spring.  Summer. Fall.
The studio has something beautiful and memorable for each season.

It's simple.

about the studio

Rich in history and artistic inspiration, Sky 9 Studio is best described as a dream photo location. The studio and gallery boast 30-foot ceilings, with huge windows throughout. A selection of well-curated props and furnishings are used within the luminous space but photographic possibilities extend beyond the walls of the primary studio, providing endless variations in photographic styling.

Exposed brick, an ivy-covered courtyard, arched hallways...these are just a few of my favorite places to photograph you.  Simply put...there is no single place in the San Francisco Bay Area where you can go for a photo session and get so much variety in one session.
